The Girls Varsity Basketball team had an extraordinary season! Compiling one of the best records in team history, the team had a 12-0 winning streak during the season. They also knocked off some major teams such and Williamsville South, Clarence, Lewiston-Porter, Randolph, Aquinas Institute and most importantly Monsignor Martin League rival Cardinal O’Hara, three times. The girls battled in a tough fought game verses Bishop Kearney losing by only 3 points. Nichols School also played competitive match-ups verses powerhouse Lancaster. The season had many successes, yet Quinn Benchley and Brianna Barr-Buday scoring their 1000th points in the same game against Mount Mercy was a rare achievement. The Vikings defeated the O’Hara Hawks in the Monsignor Martin League Finals to capture the AA Championship! Quinn Benchley ’23 was the Most Valuable Players of the finals. With this win, they advanced to the AA CHSAA State Tournament and battled with St. Mary Manhasset, NY. The game was exciting, with each team battling back and forth for the lead, but unfortunately, the Vikings could not hold on. Quinn Benchley ’23 and Brianna Barr-Buday ’24 were both named 1st Team All-Catholic and the Most Valuable Players of the team. Fallon Griffin ’23 was named Honorable Mention All-WNY Scholar-Athlete and 2nd Team All-Catholic. Mia Anderson ’24 received the Coaches Award. Evie Walcott ’25 was the Most Improved Player. The team thanks the three seniors for their amazing talent and dedication to the program. They will be missed!
