Kick-Off to the Robotics Competition Season!

Robotics is on a roll!

On December 16, 2023 Nichols hosted the FIRST Lego League Buffalo Qualifier, where eight local teams competed in the Masterpiece Game and presented their innovation projects. Three teams from the Middle School competed and earned themselves recognition. Team White won first place for Robot Design, and Team Green won both first place for Robot Performance and the Champions Award for best overall team. Team Green will be competing at the Finger Lakes Finals hosted at Nichols on February 10, 2024.

On December 17, 2023, two Upper School First Tech Challenge teams headed to Penfield, New York, to compete in their first qualifier. The judges enjoyed hearing about the engineering process, the programming skills, and the hundreds of hours of outreach and service that took place in the last eight months. Both teams passed their robot inspections and had the opportunity to spend the morning on the practice fields. Team Green received first place for the Design Award and received the Inspire Award for second place.  This recognition qualified the team to compete at the Excelsior Championships at MVCC on March 3, 2024. Team White ranked sixth place overall, 8-1-0, and was on the winning alliance. They also earned third place for the Connect Award. 

The Nichols Robotics Team is excited to host the Buffalo FTC Qualifier on January 27, 2024.  We hope to see many of you on campus for this event.  Thank you to the Nichols community for your continued support of the Robotics Team!
