After graduating from Nichols, Scamurra collected 111 points in 123 games for Northeastern University. As a senior she earned Best Defensive Forward honors, and she was a three time WHEA All-Academic Team honoree. Her professional career began in the National Women's Hockey League, where she was drafted tenth overall by the Buffalo Beauts and played alongside many of her fellow Nichols alumnae.
Scamurra's first appearance representing Team USA came in 2019 when she helped the team win gold at the IIHF Women's World Championship, and she was called to join the team again in 2020 (tournament cancelled due to COVID) and 2021 (silver). She has also skated in the Rivalry Series and the My Why Tour, and with the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) she and Jacquie Greco '09 played in the first ever women's hockey game at the storied Madison Square Garden.
