After posting their first win Saturday, a 2-0 victory over Tamarac High School,Nichols added its second victory by defeating South Glens Falls, 3-1. In another very physical game, the Nichols defense displayed skill and strength to fend off a very determined opponent.
Kam Amici (’24) scored her first of the season, after striking a hard numbler from outside the box, that spun off the hands of the SGF keeper. Sierra Warren (’22) then delivered a seeing-eye pass to senior Charlotte Greene who scored her second of the weekend. Zaineb Ahmed (’22) scored on a deflection of a ball delivered from outside the box, by Emerson Bacak.
SGF prevented the shut-out on a nice far-post screamer, from the left side. Nichols returns to action on Tuesday, at Rochester Aquinas. This will be a tough week, following something of an exhausting travel weekend, suggested coach Deasautels. “We face Aquinas and Mercy, on back to back days . . . both in Rochester. Then we have a bit of a break before we face some league opponents next week.”
