FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Nichols School Announces First Group of 14 Advanced Placement Capstone Diploma Recipients
Buffalo, NY – Nichols School is pleased to announce the outstanding achievement of our first group of students to receive Advanced Placement Capstone Diplomas.

Fourteen students have earned this prestigious honor, reflecting the high academic standards and rigorous coursework that define our institution. The average AP score for these 14 students is an impressive 3.82, a testament to their dedication and hard work. This achievement highlights Nichols School’s commitment to academic excellence and our students’ readiness for the challenges of higher education.

"We are immensely proud of our students' achievements," said Chris Burner, Head of School. "We began the AP Capstone Diploma program only two years ago, and it is exceptionally gratifying to witness our students achieving such high success in AP courses. Seeing so many of them earn the Capstone Diploma so quickly after implementing this program is a testament to their dedication and the robust academic environment we foster at Nichols School." The AP Capstone Diploma program is designed to develop students' skills in research, analysis, evidence-based arguments, collaboration, writing, and presenting. Earning this diploma signifies a high level of academic excellence and a readiness for college-level coursework.

English faculty member Dr. Aranya Maritime played a pivotal role in the success of this program at Nichols. Maritime not only spearheaded the AP Capstone diploma program but also expertly guided the inaugural group of students through the entire process.

Maritime states, “Supported by talented internal and external mentors, these students developed sophisticated research studies in social sciences, STEM, and humanities fields.  The achievement of the Capstone Diploma is made all the more remarkable by the fact that this inaugural class had no guidance from older peers, and they completed this highest recognition from the College Board in their junior year.  Our Capstone Diploma students will provide an invaluable resource for the 58 students registered for the AP Research course next year, and we look forward to the continued growth of the program.”
