We are excited to introduce Alex Verstraete to the Nichols community. This fall he joined Nichols as the Middle School Band and Upper School Wind Symphony teacher. Here’s a bit more about him:
Favorite Books & Movies:
My favorite books are Jurassic Park and Slaughterhouse-Five. And my favorite movies are classics; Jaws and Jurassic Park.
Dream Travel Destination:
I would travel to Vienna to be where the great composers of the classical and romantic era revolutionized legitimate music.
What Motivates You to Do Your Best Work:
My parent’s installation of work ethic, my need to educate young minds about music and make sure they live up to the best of their abilities in all that they do.
Fun Fact:
Not many people know that I am a 2nd-degree black belt in Japanese Ju-Jutsu!
Role Model:
Aside from my mother and my father, my trumpet instructor, Paul Maginn, from 4th - 12th grade has had a huge influence on my life.
Favorite Way to Relax:
I currently like to unwind and relax by composing my second symphony for orchestra and 4th string quartet. Also, racquetball gets my mind off of life’s stressors.
We are thrilled to have Alex as part of the Nichols Community!
